Here's To You Mom

Here's To You Mom

From scaling mountains to making mud pies, moms have always been there, pushing us to to find our passions and opening our eyes to the world around us. This Mother’s Day, we wanted to pay a tribute to the moms that have made us into the people we are today. So we asked employees at Rumpl about the impact their moms have had on their relationship to the outdoors.

FOUNDER & CEO

My mom is for sure the most active, outdoorsy person in our family. Even at over-70 years old she still hikes 4-5 times a week right out our front door in San Francisco. I am so grateful that her passion for the outdoors was instilled in me at an early age, and for all of the education she's already given my son. Mom, you're the best!

My mom has always been a huge outdoor enthusiast! From her time studying Geology in the Alaskan wilderness to hikes in the PNW, she has instilled a deep love for nature in both my sister and I that I am beyond grateful for! Taking us on camping trips, bike rides through the park, and hikes in the mountains, my mom has always encouraged being outside in the fresh air. I am so thankful for everything she has taught me, and continues to teach me!

My mom taught me to adventure. Growing up, she always pushed the boundaries of where we "should" go, and taught us to relish the new. She traveled the world at 29 with her friend as two solo women travelers, here making a stop at the Giza Pyramids. I followed suit, much less glamorously, at 30. Mom beat me back there, returning at 83 years young. My turn!

Running marathons, backpacking along the JMT, Mt. Rainer, Trans-Catalina (to name a few), mountain biking, camping - my mom is a legend and a huge inspiration for me to set about the outdoors. She both uses nature to challenge her physical ability as well as avails herself to nature to calm her mind and appreciate its beauty. My parents hiked all through Yosemite with me when I was 8 months old. I used to question them for doing noteworthy things with a young child who would never remember the experience, but now I realize and accredit this and other ‘pre-memory’ adventures to why I inherently love the outdoors!

I’ve always looked up to my mom my entire life. Growing up, she was a skateboarder, surfer, animal lover and she traveled the world when she was 17. She taught me to love the ocean and was the one who got me into surfing at an early age. She’s always pushed us to experience life to the fullest, to follow our passions and to love all animals and for that I’m grateful every single day.

My mom has always been encouraging, and supported me throughout my life. Even though we are 16 hours apart, she still tells me about her gardening / plant projects. She has always pushed me to enjoy as much nature as I can make time for!

Thanks getting us out there with you, Mom.
Happy Mother's Day!
