Responsible Material Sourcing

Whenever possible we use post-consumer recycled materials in our products. Through that effort we will have up-cycled millions of plastic bottles since Fall 2019.

Millions of Discarded Plastic Bottles Recycled Each Year

From bottle to blanket. We use discarded plastic bottles and recycle them into the synthetic insulation and polyester that make up our best-selling products.

Recycled Synthetic or Responsibly Natural

When it comes to insulation options, we make sure to fill all our blankets with a sustainable choice you can feel good about. Our synthetic insulation is made from recycled plastic bottles, and our natural down feathers are sourced humanely and ethically.

3. Causes We Care About

In addition to our year-round environmental commitments, we also support local and grassroots causes that we believe in. Below are causes we donated to or volunteered for in the past year.

FIRST DESCENTS

During Giving Tuesday 2022, Rumpl proudly partnered with First Descents. First Descents provides life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults impacted by cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other serious health conditions.

VENTURE OUT PROJECT

Rumpl is all about embracing diversity in the outdoors, and that's why we're proud supporters of the Venture Our Project. We believe in making outdoor spaces inclusive for everyone, no matter who they are or where they come from. The Venture Out Project leads backpacking and wilderness trips for the queer and transgender community.

PROTECT OUR WINTERS

In 2022, we contributed to Protect Our Winters, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the urgent threat of climate change and its impact on winter sports and mountain communities. We strongly advocate for the preservation of nature and the safeguarding of the spaces that bring us joy and inspiration.

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION OREGON

Supporting organizations that help preserve the ocean, especially in coastal regions like Oregon, is important to us. The Surfrider Foundation Oregon, which Rumpl proudly supports, plays a vital role in this mission by advocating for clean water, reducing plastic pollution, and protecting coastal habitats.

SAVE THE WAVES

The ocean is one of our favorite outdoor playgrounds, and it is important for us to partner with organizations that are committed to its preservation. Save The Waves is specifically focused on preserving coastal surf ecosystems. A portion of every sale of our Ocean Fade blanket supports Save The Wave's mission to protect surf ecosystems around the globe.

With the increasing impact of human activities on our natural landscapes, preserving pristine areas has become ever more critical. We joined forces with SOLVE Oregon to hold a clean up day at Powell Park.

THE CONSERVATION ALLIANCE

We love being outside, and we love adventure. Naturally, a partnership with organizations dedicated to the protection of wild and outdoor spaces aligns perfectly with our values. By joining forces with the Conservation Alliance, we hope to give generations to come an opportunity to experience the wonders of the great outdoors.

3.
Causes We Care About

In addition to our year-round environmental commitments, we periodically support local and grassroots causes that we believe in.

RAINCOAST CONSERVATION FOUNDATION

For our Growth Series with a British Colombia-based photographer, Jeremy Koreski, we wanted to give back to the Canadian landscapes featured in the series. As part of the launch, we donated to the Raincoast Conservation Foundation, a team of conservationists and scientists empowered by research to protect the lands, waters, and wildlife of coastal British Columbia. Using informed advocacy, their research has formed the basis of their conservation efforts since 1990.

AMERICAN RIVERS

In collaboration with both Osprey and artist Jeremy Collins, we committed $5,000 to American Rivers for our Three Canyons launch. The American Rivers team works to create a future of clean water and healthy rivers everywhere, for everyone, working closely with river and water conservationists nationwide.

FIRST PEOPLES FUND

Cultural appropriation of Native American and Indigenous artwork is a problem in the outdoor industry. We partnered up with artists Darby Raymond-Overstreet (Navajo) and Jordan Ann Craig (Northern Cheyenne) to create a collection benefiting First Peoples Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting Native and Indigenous artists and culture bearers.

SHELTERSUIT FOUNDATION

The ocean is one of our favorite outdoor playgrounds, and it is important for us to partner with organizations that are committed to its preservation. Save The Waves is specifically focused on preserving coastal surf ecosystems. A portion of every sale of our Ocean Fade blanket supports Save The Wave's mission to protect surf ecosystems around the globe.

WeGotNext

We believe that the outdoors is for everyone. WeGotNext and its team of ambassadors is dedicated to telling stores of adventure and activism from communities that are underrepresented in outdoor and environmental spaces.

HIGH FIVES FOUNDATION

We love being outside and we love adventure. Consequently, we’re heartbroken every time we hear stories of people who dedicate their lives to an outdoor passion, only to suffer a career-ending injury that prevents them from doing what they love. For this reason, we are proud to partner with the High Fives Foundation on several products every year in which a portion of each sale goes to helping athletes recover from career-ending injuries.

EPISCOPAL SERVICES NAVIGATION CENTER

After being surrounded by the homeless epidemic in San Francisco, we decided to do what we could to help the problem. We partnered with the Episcopal Services Navigation Center and gave all 75 of their residents new, clean Rumpl blankets. In addition to our donation, we also contributed $5 of every blanket sold from November 13-17 to the center that year.

GIVING TUESDAY

This holiday, we dedicated a week of our busiest sales season to help fight hunger, donating $5 for every blanket sold during that time. Each $5 donation provided 50 meals to a family in need through the leading national hunger non-profit via a network of local food banks.

THE TREVOR PROJECT

At Rumpl we believe in the freedom to love whoever you want, simple as that. All too often people are discriminated against and ridiculed for being themselves, often to the point of self-harm or even suicide. We are grateful to be able to give back to the The Trevor Project, who is committed to the prevention of teen suicide in LGBTQ communities.
