This coat - bought on a whim - is quickly becoming a go-to staple in my chilly-weather wardrobe. I almost can’t wait for it to again be cool enough in the evenings to enjoy this awesome jacket. From sitting on the back porch on a cool evening to a walk around the block at sunrise with the pup, this coat feels like a little bit of warm luxury and I smile every time I put it on.

I have one of the blue & red Rumpl x Betabrand chillmonos, and those are not made anymore, so I figured I would get the version that Rumpl sells now.
The pockets on the newer Rumpl one are normal side pockets instead of just being open at the top. I am getting used to it, but I feel like it takes away from the unique character of the garment, making it closer to just a normal coat.
Also, the zipper pull was moved from the right side to the left side. Is it expected that I am left-handed or that someone else will be putting the coat on me? Or has the demographic intent shifted to this being a primarily women's garment and they are keeping with tradition? Just seems like an odd and unnecessary choice, which the original did not have.
Those are honestly the main differences, and otherwise it is pretty much the same product, and I am still enjoying it. It is very warm, and gives good coverage of the legs when seated so that I can keep wearing shorts in fall, but mostly have my legs covered by the garment if I so desire.
The hood is an adequate size for the head, but not so large that it will pull down and cover the eyes. The lining is warm and soft. The exterior is what you'd expect from a Rumpl product.
One change I did like is the reflective material on the cuffs of the sleeves. Which almost seems like an homage to Betabrand that helped design the original, and their popular "flashback" attire.

I love this coat! The fit is perfect and it’s very warm, just like all of my Rumpl blankets. I’ve had a black version for a few years and wanted to add the white to my collection. It’s really beautiful!
