Meet the Flame Puffy, our first full-sized blanket constructed with EmBarrier™ flame-resistant fabric technology. Stray sparks and embers don’t get along with polyester shells, making cold-weather campfires and chilly backyard bonfires risky business. The Flame Puffy is designed for cozying up to fire rings, bonfires, barbecues, and anywhere wayward embers might threaten a good time.

The Flame Puffy Blanket uses a PFAS-Free 90/10 durable water repellent. This finish provides protection from dirt, stains, water & debris. To clean, machine wash in any front-loading washing machine on cold and hang to dry.

Common Questions

What makes EmBarrier™ flame-resistant, and how does that technology work?
EmBarrier™ is made from a unique blend of 60% modacrylic (a naturally flame-resistant fiber) and 40% cotton. The flame resistance is built into the fibers themselves—no chemical treatments or coatings required. That means the protection won’t wash out over time. Note: EmBarrier™ is flame-resistant, not flame-proof. It’s designed to protect against stray sparks and embers, not direct flames.
What does “flame-resistant” mean?
Flame-resistant materials should self-extinguish once the source of ignition is removed, but keep in mind that given a certain amount of time and heat level, anything will burn eventually. Flame-resistant or fire-resistant materials are designed to prevent the spread of fire and withstand heat.
What kind of safety testing did EmBarrier™ go through?
The EmBarrier™ fabric passed multiple safety and performance tests, including:

- Flammability Test (ISO 15025:2016)
– Passed a surface ignition test using a propane flame applied for 10 seconds. - CA Prop 65 Lead Testing – Certified safe for kids' products.
- Chemical Trace Testing (EPA 8270D + others)
– No harmful chemicals detected.
Is this blanket waterproof?
All Rumpl Puffy blankets are treated with a PFAs-free 90/10 DWR, making it highly water and stain-resistant; however, they are not completely waterproof.
Is the stuff sack flame-resistant too?
Mostly! The body of the roll-top stuff sack is made with EmBarrier™ fabric. The bottom panel is not flame-resistant, so just keep that part away from open flames.
How do I wash my Rumpl?
All Rumpl Puffy Blankets are machine washable. We recommend using a front loading washing machine on cold, and adding in Grangers brand detergent for the best cleaning results while preserving the DWR. Hang dry or toss in the dryer on tumble dry low.
Is the Flame Stash Pouch included?
The Flame Stash Pouch is sold separately, but it's the perfect companion to the Flame Puffy.
