Jill Kintner is one of the most accomplished female athletes on two wheels as well as an incredibly talented artist. Paired with her work ethic and creativity, she has prevailed in 6 cycling disciplines. Starting with BMX and turning pro by age 14, Jill set herself apart at the highest level and then made a lateral shift at age 21 into mountain biking. Competing in the Mtb disciplines of 4-Cross, Slalom, then Downhill, Pumptrack, and Enduro, her career highlights could stand alone in any one discipline. Still, Jill has risen to the top in all that she has entered. From a BMX Bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic games, three consecutive UCI 4X Mountain Bike World Championships, 15 World Cup wins, 5 Crankworx World titles, Downhill World Cup podiums, Slalom dominance, Pumptrack World titles, EWS Enduro stage wins, and an outstanding 25 Elite USA National Championships across them all.

20 Questions with Jill

1. Favorite place to train?

At Red Bull’s high-performance center down in La. Surrounded by good vibes and talent in the gym there.

 

2. What moment made you realize you wanted to do this professionally?

When I was 14 and actually started making money doing what I loved to do the most!!

 

3. Must-have travel essential?

A pillow, travel blanket, headphones, blindfold, water bottle.

 

4. Sporting hero?

Roger Federer

 

5. Favorite trail?

I love my home trails in Bellingham, WA. It’s nice to know every inch of a trail and go full speed.

6. Best piece of advice you’ve been given?

“Play it primal”. It means to just use instincts to react in the moment.

 

7. Most memorable moment in your career?

Winning an Olympic medal for BMX in Beijing!!!! A flood of emotions top tick that one off.

 

8. Bucket list adventure?

I really want to go to Japan and Sweden!!!

 

9. Favorite way to recover?

Jumping in a lake at the bottom of a trail. After that Legs up with the compression boots watching a show with a smoothie.

 

10. Last book you read?

Training the best dog ever. We just got a puppy :)

11. Biggest fear?

Going blind.

 

12. Favorite TV show to binge?

House of dragons currently:)

 

13. How do you take your coffee or tea?

I Loooovvve coffee.

 

14. Best concert you ever attended?

I came across Jack Johnson playing his guitar outside our hotel in Reno while he was warming up for a show. Tiny concert style.

 

15. Favorite weather to train in?

60 degrees and overcast - flat light in the woods is my fav 😍

 

16. What are you listening to lately?

I like the pulp mx motocross podcasts, audio books, and I have a few riding playlists on Spotify for the big days of pedaling:)

 

17. Last place you traveled and why?

Killington, Vermont for the MTB US Open, I raced Downhill and Slalom.

18. What do you do to prep or "get in the zone"?

I usually do a warm up, then take a min to visualize my run and what I want to accomplish:)

 

19. Funniest sport memory?

Our old mechanic Monk dawg used to cook hot pockets on the dash of the truck while driving cross country to World Cups.

 

20. What's Next?

Off-season chilling, a few e bikes adventures, and puppy snuggles!!! Xoxo
